Emergency teams from several agencies worked together on Wednesday to free a dog who was stuck in a deep, unused well in Bonita.

Firefighters received the call at around 2:30 p.m. on Vista Drive, according to Chula Vista Fire Sgt. Josh Sanders. Groups from Bonita and San Miguel Fire departments worked at the scene for a few hours to extract the German Shepard named Indy.

According to authorities, firefighters are prevented from going down the well due to OSHA regulations. They had to worry about possible injuries to Indy, in addition to any injuries to their crew as the well was unstable due to recent rains. The structure is about 3-feet wide and unsupported, authorities said

San Diego Humane Society tweeted that its Emergency Response Team was on the scene to assist in the rescue from the well.
