The San Diego Humane Society kicks off the fall season by reducing adoption fees for all adult animals to $5 in an effort to help community members Fall in Love with a new pet.
The nonprofit organization aims to bring awareness to the nearly 600 animals that are already available for adoption. The promotion is sponsored by Petco Love and runs through Sept. 25. Announcement of the discounted adoption fees comes as Animal Shelters and Rescues across the nation continue to see more animals entering than leaving shelters.
According to the animal welfare organization, there are many animals ready for new homes, but shelter space is shallow for adult dogs. There are currently 205 dogs, 82 cats, 59 rabbits, 83 guinea pigs, and 52 chickens available for adoption at the San Diego Humane Society.
“With more animals arriving in San Diego Humane Society’s care every day, the organization is seeking the community’s support,” the organization wrote in a statement.
According to the San Diego Humane Society, adopting an animal helps in the following ways:
- Creating shelter space for other animals in need
- Adopting an animal who was properly assessed and cared for.
- Your pet has been spayed, neutered, or vaccinated,
- Adoption guarantee, training advice, pet supplies, and educational information to support pet families for the life of the animal.
