Investigators are searching for a hit-and-run driver that fatally struck a man in Otay Mesa on Sunday evening.
According to the San Diego Police Department, a man in his 50s was walking in the third lane of traffic when he was struck by a vehicle and was killed.
Police say the collision took place around 6:30 p.m, and the unidentified vehicle drove away on Otay Mesa Road near Cactus Road.
It wasn’t known why the man was in the roadway.
The pedestrian suffered major injuries and died at the scene before he could be transported to a hospital.
The police department’s traffic division is investigating the accident.
No information about the vehicle that hit him was released.
