Be a night owl at the Nighttime Zoo starting this Friday, May 26 at the San Diego Zoo!
This annual event will take place from May 26 to September 4, the zoo’s daily hours will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Nighttime Zoo activities will begin at 4 p.m. daily.
There will be live music shows brought by Rock & Roar, who are an in-house rock and pop band, and The Chameleons, a brass band that brings tunes from the Beetles of Broadway. Join family-friendly educational interactive activities like, “Zooloamoves” and " Dr. Zoolittle's Exploration Station”.
At the end of the night, there will be two dancing events, as described in a statement sent by the San Diego Zoo, Call of the Night” is a 12-minute, “thrilling symphony of live music, lasers, moving lights, rhythmic acrobats, fog and bubbles,” and “Jambo” a 15 minute, “spectacular celebrating Africa along Front Street, will be led by the Chameleons, including music and festive pageantry with giant, handcrafted puppets”.
The Nighttime Zoo offers the opportunity to see various nocturnal animals such as caimans, ocelots, tamanduas, prehensile-tailed porcupines, scorpions, coconut crabs, fennec foxes, and more.
The Denny Sanford Wildlife Explorers Basecamp offers a fun experience for people of all ages. Spanning over 3.2 acres, it is divided into four distinct habitats: rainforest, wild woods, marsh meadows, and desert dunes.
