A man was fataly struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Chula Vista while attempting to change a flat tire on his car, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported.
To remove a flat tire, the man had pulled over to State Route 54 near the Chula Vista Mobile Home Park and KOA resort, east of Highland Avenue.
While the man was changing the blown tire on his blue Toyota Scion, he was struck by a Mazda vehicle, the CHP reported. The injured man was taken to a hospital but died a little later.
Authorities reported that the driver of the Mazda remained at the scene and has cooperated with inquiries.
The CHP is investigating the incident in detail and did not provide the identities of either the victim or the Mazda driver.
