Los Angeles murder suspect arrested in a Chula Vista motel

Chula Vista Police coordinated efforts with Los Angeles detectives to arrest Jose Godinez, the suspect of a Nov.28 shooting that killed a 40 year old man.

The suspect of an active murder investigation in Los Angeles was arrested on Dec.2  at a Chula Vista motel. 

A warrant was issued for Jose Godinez’s arrest as a suspect in a Nov. 28 shooting that killed a 40 year old man. He fled Los Angeles and was later found in Chula Vista. 

Upon learning of Godinez’s whereabouts on Dec.1, the Chula Vista Police Department worked alongside Los Angeles Police detectives in coordinating an arrest at the motel room rented by the suspect on the 300 block of Broadway in Chula Vista. Godinez was transported to Los Angeles and booked in LA County Jail on suspicion of murder.

According to CVPD officials, it was believed Godinez was armed with a firearm at the time of his apprehension. Authorities reported that he CVPD SWAT Team was on the scene. Godinez later surrendered and was taken into custody without incident according to CVPD officials. 

According to police, LAPD detectives found “evidence to the homicide” at the arrest scene.
