Suspect wanted for attempted sexual assault of a teenage girl in National City.

Authorities seek a man suspected of sexually assaulting a teenage girl on Tuesday in the Lincoln Acres Community and offer a $1,000 award for any information that leads to an arrest.

The suspect is described as an 18-year-old Hispanic man standing around 5'11" tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has short and curly hair that touches his ears. The suspect was wearing a tan shirt with a torn collar and khaki pants.

Authorities seek a man suspected of sexually assaulting a teenage girl on Tuesday in the Lincoln Acres Community and offer a $1,000 award for any information that leads to an arrest. 

A 16-year-old girl was walking along the 2900 block of Prospect Avenue near Sweetwater Road just before 3 p.m. when the suspect tackled her to the ground, the San Diego Sheriffs Department reported. The victim said she was able to fight the suspect off and ran away, but he eventually caught up to her and attempted to sexually assault her. 

A good Samaritan intervened, causing the suspect to run away with the victim’s cellphone. He was last seen running eastbound towards a nearby gas station along Sweetwater Road, according to the Sheriff's Department. 

The victim was not hurt.
