Three people hospitalized after multi-vehicle collision in Chula Vista

An elderly woman drove past a red light in Chula Vista, which triggered a multi-vehicle collision that hospitalized three people.

Authorities closed Telegraph Canyon Rd to all eastbound traffic at Buena Vista Way for the investigation and to clean up the scene.

An elderly woman drove past a red light in Chula Vista and triggered a multi-vehicle collision that hospitalized three people with major injuries. 

An elderly woman in a White Honda on Monday drove northbound on Paseo Ranchero at approximately 9:24 a.m. when she ran the red light on Telegraph Canyon Rd, according to OnScene T.V. Three other vehicles were westbound on Telegraph Canyon Rd traveling up to 50 mph at the time of the collision.

According to OnScene, a blue Hyundai hit the white Honda. A red Mercedes SUV hit one of the vehicles and flipped in the air, landing next to the blue Hyundai. A grey Toyota Camary also hit the elderly woman’s white car. 

Video footage showed major damage to all the vehicles involved. Paramedics and several Chula Vista Police officers were seen providing aid to those involved in the collision and talking to witnesses at the scene.  

The elderly woman, a female in the red Mercedes SUV, and a female in the grey Toyota Camary all sustained major injuries and were transported to UCSD Medical Center. 

The male in the blue car was not injured.

Authorities closed Telegraph Canyon Rd to all eastbound traffic at Buena Vista Way. According to OnScene, Chula Vista Police remained on the scene to investigate and for clean-up.
