CHULA VISTA.- Christine Brady, the city’s Arts and Culture Commissioner, has launched a call directed at artists, students, and performing arts educators to participate in a form aimed at gathering information on the community’s needs regarding practice and performance spaces.
Brady noted that the city currently does not have a budget allocated to support the arts or to provide performing arts spaces, and she stressed the importance of engaging the community to encourage investment in these resources. “The performing arts are fundamental to the community’s mental health and to youth development. They remind us of our shared humanity, and by coming together as a community, we can do more for Chula Vista,” Brady said.

The form invites participants to provide information such as their name, age, type of artistic activity (dance, instrumental music, musical theater, drama, choir, mariachi, or others), needs to develop their art (practice spaces, classes, teaching studios, or performance venues), and their availability to attend meetings or participate as volunteers.
“We want to identify where accessible spaces are needed for the practice and presentation of performing arts, especially on the west side of the city, and gather the necessary information to advocate before the city for these resources,” Brady added.
Brady is recognized in Chula Vista for her work promoting the arts and arts education, with decades of experience supporting cultural programs, educational workshops, and youth development activities through music, dance, and theater.
As Arts and Culture Commissioner, she has led initiatives aimed at integrating young people into the artistic community, creating training opportunities, and ensuring that cultural spaces are accessible to everyone.
Those interested can complete the form and obtain more information by contacting Christine Brady via WhatsApp at +1 619 513 6052.
Brady emphasized that community participation is key to ensuring the city invests in low-cost rehearsal and performance spaces, strengthening the local arts scene and promoting a positive impact on Chula Vista’s cultural and social life.
