SAN DIEGO. – With only 15.4% of the total votes counted, the mayors of Chula Vista and Imperial Beach, John McCann and Paloma Aguirre, held a clear lead, strongly indicating their advance to the general elections on July 1.
According to preliminary results released by the Registrar of Voters last night, Mayor McCann leads with 24,901 votes, which represents 43.58% of the total.
In second place is Mayor Aguirre, with 18,070 votes, amounting to 31.62%.
Now out of the race for the District 1 seat on the County Board of Supervisors are the San Diego City Councilmembers from District 8: Vivian Moreno, in third place with 7,427 votes (13%), and Carolina Chávez, in fourth with 4,371 votes (7.55%).
Receiving the lowest percentages were:
- Louis Fuentes with 962 votes (1.68%)
- Elizabeth Efird with 903 votes (1.58%)
- Lincoln Pickard with 561 votes (0.98%)
According to information posted on the Secretary of State’s website, the unofficial preliminary count will continue on Thursday, April 10; Friday, April 11; and Monday, April 14. The election will be certified on May 8, at which time the official results will be announced.
