San Diego FC (SDFC) has bolstered its attacking lineup with the acquisition of Colombian forward Tomás Ángel from LAFC. In exchange, LAFC received $200,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money, along with a second-round pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft. Ángel is under contract through 2026, with an option for 2027.

Ángel, 21, impressed during a loan stint with Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship, scoring six goals in 15 starts and helping the team reach the playoffs. Before joining LAFC in early 2024, he spent three successful seasons with Atlético Nacional in Colombia, winning multiple titles. Internationally, Ángel has represented Colombia at the U-20 level, notably scoring three goals in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Ángel’s versatility and scoring ability are expected to provide a significant boost to SDFC’s attacking options. With a proven track record at both the club and international levels, Ángel adds depth and experience to a team eager to compete at the highest level in Major League Soccer. Sporting Director Tyler Heaps emphasized Ángel’s growth potential, calling him a forward with “top qualities” and a “winning mentality.”
