Less than six months after Chula Vista’s first legal cannabis dispensary opened its doors another one is slated to open in the city this week. March & Ash will open its fifth Southern California location on Telegraph Canyon Road October 9, replacing The Archway Lounge, with plans for another storefront on H Street in December.

While the City of Chula Vista has fought in the past to shut down illegal pot shops that opened in the city, officials announced at a press conference that the last of them were shut down on September 11 last year. Mayor Mary Casillas Salas and the City Council later cut the ribbon for Grasshopper, the first legal cannabis storefront, on April 20.

March & Ash offers a selection of flower, vapes, concentrates, edibles, pre-rolls, clones, and CBD for online order and pickup only. While other locations offer delivery, the Telegraph Canyon Road and H Street locations will not, due to Chula Vista’s storefront only regulations.

The cannabis company’s Public Affairs Director Spender Andrews said the City of Chula Vista did a thorough job in vetting its business practices and operational standards. The cannabis company is in the process of meeting with community members and local nonprofit organizations to develop partnerships within the city.

Andrews said the company’s approach is focused on education first and opening a dialogue about the cannabis products it offers rather than forcing a sale. “We train our employees with that mindset,” he said.

Their website lists risks associated with cannabis consumption and links to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. March & Ash opened its flagship location in Mission Valley in 2018 followed by locations in Imperial Valley and Vista in 2019 and City Heights in 2020. It’s looking to open another location in Imperial Beach sometime next year.
