Mujeres Business Network (MBN) was introduced on September 19 as a new platform designed to connect, support, and empower women entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals, and leaders, with the goal of taking women’s networking beyond individual meetings and events and turning those connections into ongoing relationships.
The project was introduced by Fanny Miller during the 16th annual Celebrando Latinas Conference at the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in Chula Vista. Although the conference and Mujeres Business Network are separate initiatives, the experience of Celebrando Latinas inspired a new way to strengthen the relationships formed among participants and keep those connections going throughout the year.
MBN seeks to build a community where women can form meaningful relationships, share knowledge, access mentorship, create collaborations, gain visibility, and find opportunities to grow their businesses and professional careers.
Beyond Events
The new platform is built around a need identified in networking spaces: making a connection is only the first step. MBN aims to provide a space where those relationships can grow into long-term collaborations, opportunities, and support networks.
While the organization has a digital platform to keep members connected, its approach also emphasizes the value of personal connections beyond the screen.
Small gatherings, strategic introductions, support circles, events, mentorship, and collaborations among women are among the opportunities envisioned for the community.
The platform is designed for women who want to expand their professional networks, grow their businesses, strengthen their leadership skills, or find guidance as they take the next step in their careers.
Addressing Key Challenges
Latina business owners and professionals represent a growing economic force, but they continue to face challenges related to access to capital, mentorship, and professional networks.
These challenges are compounded by the difficulty of balancing work, family, health, and personal well-being.
For many women, the challenge is not necessarily a lack of talent or determination, but rather access to the right people, information, and opportunities.
Mujeres Business Network seeks to help bridge those gaps by creating a community where members can share experiences, support and recommend one another, generate business opportunities, and open doors for other women.
Building the Community
One of the central elements of MBN is the participation of its Founding Members. Rather than simply joining an established organization, this initial group will have an opportunity to contribute ideas and help shape the programs, gatherings, and resources offered by the platform.
The goal is for the community to be shaped by the real experiences and needs of the women who make up its membership.
MBN will offer opportunities for women who are beginning to build their professional networks, as well as for established business owners, founders, executives, and leaders seeking strategic connections, personalized mentorship, and more focused networking experiences.
Taking Connections to the Next Level
Mujeres Business Network is built around a central idea: networking does not end when an event is over or when business cards are exchanged.
The platform seeks to create opportunities for those initial connections to develop into stronger professional relationships, collaborations, mentorship, and opportunities for growth.
With its launch, MBN took its first step toward developing an independent, ongoing community focused on strengthening connections among women and expanding the possibilities that can grow from those relationships.
