Binational public transportation route begins operations 

With a cost of only 10 dollars (round trip) and with hours from 04:00 a.m. to 09:00 p.m., the buses will leave the Sitt station in downtown Tijuana and arrive at San Ysidro Station

TIJUANA, B.C.- With an estimated of 30,000 users per month, a binational public transportation route was inaugurated. It will run from the Central Terminal of the Tijuana Integral Transport System (SITT) with two arrival options at the Garita Puerta Station Mexico and San Ysidro Station on the US side.

With a cost of 10 dollars per round trip and with service hours from 04:00 a.m. to 09:00 p.m, authorities estimate this will reduce the number of vehicles at the border. Tijuana mayor, Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, indicated that with this route it will be possible to cross in an estimated period of 30 minutes, facilitating the transfer of the more than 30,000 passengers who travel per month in the trucks called Mexicoach, a company with which the Tijuana City Hall. 

Users from Tijuana must arrive at Avenida Revolución and Calle Primera in the Zona Centro, where the Centro Sitt station is located and board the route. "Make sure to take with you the documents required to cross the border, be it a valid visa, passport or corresponding IDs." Caballero Ramírez explained that there will be 10 units in service, with which it is estimated that approximately 360,000 people cross a year, a figure that will contribute to reducing the number of vehicles at the border, in addition to reducing pollution emissions to protect the air quality on both borders.

For his part, the director of the SITT, Alejandro Mungaray Moctezuma, mentioned that passengers will cross through the fast lane and that, on the Tijuana side, in the upper part of the central station, a tourist police booth has been set up, where 60 bilingual staff members will serve foreign and national tourism. photo credit It is estimated that approximately 360,000 people cross each year.
