The San Diego’s Sheriff Department Center just announced their newest tool, a hi-lo siren that will emit a high then low sound to warn people that they should evacuate due to immediate danger.

As said in a video issued by the Sheriff’s Department, this system will be used during wildfires, flash floods, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. It will also be used for terrorism warnings, gas leaks, SWAT standoffs, sinkholes, and other emergencies.

This new gadget was announced this past May 4 in a press conference, to explain to the public how this siren is different from regular ones and show how it will be used.

The Sheriff’s Department wants to get people associated with the sound so the public can know what to do and how to act. Here’s a link to the sound,

“When you hear the Hi-Lo, it is time to go! Heed the warning and evacuate immediately because your safety depends on it,” it states in its public service announcement.
