The Old Globe Theatre presents Donald and Darlene Shiley in the production of "Destiny of Desire," which was written by Karen Zacarias winner of the Helen Hayes Award, and directed by Tony Award winner and Hudson Award contender Ruben Santiago.
This story examines the emotional roller coaster and societal criticism that the telenovela, the most common type of narration in the world, makes. The season is currently running and runs until June 25.
This story is set in Balboa Park, San Diego, and follows the ups and downs of a passionate love story that began on a stormy night in Bellarica, Mexico. The couple had two children who were born into vastly different circumstances – one grew up in wealth and luxury, while the other faced a life of hardship and despair.
The plot centers on a former evil beauty queen who switches the two babies, resulting in two surprising events that merge into one unexpected destiny.
