As we approach the project's first anniversary, we are thrilled to announce that the magnificent Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center, an impressive 22-story architectural marvel, is already taking shape next to the renowned Living Coast Discovery Center.
In partnership with the local government, the Port of San Diego has set its sights on transforming 535 acres along the bay into a world-class tourist destination—a vibrant place where people can live, work, and play.
The project is bringing about many exciting changes, such as:
- Expanding the existing parks by an additional 70 acres, resulting in a total of 100 acres of delightful public spaces for everyone to enjoy.
- Restoring 120 acres of open space, which includes vital habitats, wetlands, and ecological buffers to protect precious wildlife and coastal resources.
- Creating a picturesque waterfront promenade, enchanting walking trails, and an extensive network of bicycle paths to delight visitors and locals alike.
- Introducing an impressive total of 2,850 hotel rooms, complemented by a state-of-the-art Convention Center, promising an unparalleled guest experience.
- Providing a diverse range of amenities spanning over 600,000 square feet, catering to various needs with an array of restaurants, retail outlets, and marinas.
- Establishing a dynamic 220,000 square feet of mixed-use space, seamlessly blending commercial, recreational, and ocean-related offices to foster innovation and collaboration.
- Offering ample parking facilities with a capacity of 1,100 to 3,000 spaces, ensuring convenience for all visitors.
It is important to note that this ambitious project experienced minor adjustments to its timeline due to budget considerations and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we are thrilled to share that the development is now projected to be completed by the summer of 2025, which is only two years away.
