Saturday afternoon turned into chaos inside Plaza Bonita mall when a smash-and-grab incident led to significant confusion for shoppers after someone allegedly pulled a fire alarm inside the shopping center.
The shoplifting incident reportedly took place at Macy's, located on the north side of Plaza Bonita. Eventually, one report of active gunfire alerted authorities of a possible shooting incident at AMC theaters inside the mall. However, police now say that they believe no shots were fired throughout the afternoon.
This comes just days after a smash-and-grab crew reportedly stoled up to $250,000 worth of jewelry at a small business inside Plaza Bonita on Tuesday afternoon.
Three people are being treated for minor injuries caused by the panic scenario that took place Saturday afternoon.
Police will provide more details as the investigation continues to develop.
