The City’s award-winning Economic Development team offers a business concierge service for entrepreneurs looking to start or expand a business in Chula Vista.
Entrepreneurs can coordinate with Economic Development team members as a single point of contact to assist in opening a business, obtaining a business license and permits, and navigating the development process. Economic Development staff members can also provide technical assistance and referrals for additional business resources and services.
The concierge service began in October 2023. An informational banner advertising this program is now displayed at the Development Services front counter in Building B, located at 276 Fourth Avenue. In addition, Economic Development staff is available to assist businesses at business@chulavistaca.gov. All inquiries will be responded to within 48 business hours.
Chula Vista also offers a digital Business Resources Guide, which provides information on resources and services to those interested in conducting business in Chula Vista. Updated in October 2023, the Guide also offers information on regional economic development partners. The Guide recently received a 2023 Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), which recognizes the world’s best economic development programs, partnerships, marketing materials, and influential leaders.
“The City of Chula Vista has raised the bar for excellence in economic development with its digital Business Resources Guide,” said Nathan Ohle, IEDC President and CEO. “This award is a testament to Chula Vista’s dedication to its businesses and serves as a great example of how economic development can help transform a community for the better.”
Last month, the City hosted an inaugural convening of the new Chula Vista Business Support Collaborative, a group of 14 regional partners working together to increase awareness of the many resources and services available to Chula Vista businesses. Partners include government agencies, technical assistance advisors, membership groups, and capital partners.
“Entrepreneurs are the economic engine of Chula Vista,” said Miranda Evans, Economic Development Manager. “The City’s economic development team is here to support all our amazing businesses, no matter what stage they are at in their business journey. Chula Vista’s business-friendly environment fuels entrepreneurship and drives economic prosperity for our whole community, not just during Entrepreneurship Month but throughout the entire year.”
Entrepreneurship Month will also include Small Business Saturday, an initiative of the Small Business Administration, held on November 25. This plan celebrates and supports small businesses entering the holiday season. Chula Vista residents are encouraged to shop small and support local businesses during the holiday shopping season and beyond.
