Can’t find the book you want? While the Chula Vista Public Library has a vast collection of books, they may not have the one you are looking for.

Zip Books, funded by the California State Library, is a free and recently added service in all Chula Vista Library branches where you can request books not owned by the library.

But why does it matter? The books are purchased and shipped directly to your home via Amazon Prime. The perks of partnering with Chula Vista Public Libraries is that once you finish reading the books, you can return them to the Account’s Desk at any of their branches.

And how does it work? First, you must have a valid Chula Vista Library card, which must be in good standing, meaning there can’t be a fine larger than $5. You must also have a valid email address. Moreover, requested items must be physical books or audiobooks and must not already be in the collection; items should be at most $50 each (sales tax not included). Lastly, you may have only FIVE active Zip Books items at a time, and of course, the books need to be eligible through Amazon Prime.

If you first want to check if the book you are interested in is in the Chula Vista Public Library system, you can locate the items through this catalog.
