SAN DIEGO.- After Monday’s “Local Emergency” declared by San Diego County authorities amid ravages of recent rain, residents are now urged to report their damages through an online survey form to request federal and state aid funding.

On Monday, January 22, 2024, the National Weather Service announced it was the fourth wettest day in San Diego since 1850. Given the damages throughout the county, local officials say that “completing the survey will help the County collect information on damage related to the storm.”

County spokespersons explained that the data gathered by this particular survey “will only be used to determine whether the County should apply for state and/or federal assistance.”

Furthermore, local officials say that filling out the form doesn’t come with the full guarantee that each person will be automatically eligible to receive state and/or federal aid for relief assistance, nor is it a substitute for filing a claim with insurance.
