Karl Strauss, San Diego’s longest continuously operating post-Prohibition brewing company, recently released The Godfather Italian Pilsner, which was produced in partnership with Societe Brewing.
This special beverage was made to pay homage to the brewery’s namesake, Master Brewer Karl M. Strauss, whose cousin Chris Cramer co-founded the brewery in 1989 here in Downtown San Diego.
The beer contains a 6.0% alcohol-by-volume(ABV) produced with Saphir and Arims hops.
According to the brewery, the traditional Italian-style pilsner has a particular tasting mix of light malt, citrus, and floral notes with a final touch of light hop bitterness.
The Godfather is available on draft and also sold in four packs of 16-oz cans at Karl Stauss’ five San Diego County locations: 4S Ranch, Carlsbad, Downtown San Diego, San Marcos, and Sorrento Mesa. It is also available in numerous restaurants, bars, and retailers throughout the Golden State, Arizona, and Nevada.
Karl Strauss once said, “Any opportunity depends on the person pursuing it knowing what they’re doing. The proof is in the glass.”
According to the brewery, it is believed that Strauss brewed over seven billion servings of beers throughout his trajectory.
