SAN DIEGO – Club America advances to the Round of 16 after defeating Atlas in this round of the Leagues Cup 2024.

The reigning defending champions of Mexico’s top division soccer league faced off against Atlas at Snapdragon Stadium in the Round of 32 of the North America-based competition taking place this summer.

The night got started with a goal from Erick Sanchez in the 19th minute to open up the scoreboard and give Club America the lead at Snapdragon Stadium.

The match remained competitive until Atlas Defender #17 Rivaldo Lozano equalized the score with a header in the 59th minute of the second half, reversing the pressure back to the reigning defending champions of LigaMX.

14 minutes later, Club America Captain, Henry Martin, gave the Aguilas the lead again in the 73rd minute. And with the goal, the LigaMX champions activated cruise control throughout the rest of the night before taking the victory in San Diego.

Club America will face St. Louis in the Round of 16 of this Leagues Cup tomorrow, Tuesday night, in Los Angeles, for a punched ticket to the semi-final match.
