The City of Chula Vista is developing a Rohr Park Master Plan, a long-term strategy to guide future improvements and infrastructure investments in one of the city’s most cherished public spaces.
Community members are encouraged to participate in this visioning process to ensure the park reflects the values, needs, and priorities of those who live in and around Chula Vista.
The planning effort, titled “Rohr Park Master Plan Visioning,” is now underway and will help shape how the park evolves over the next ten years. City officials emphasized the importance of acting now to meet the changing recreational needs of the community, address aging infrastructure, and ensure that Rohr Park remains a safe, inclusive, and vibrant destination for future generations.
“Hearing from the people who live in Chula Vista and use the park is important to create a Master Plan that works for everyone,” said city representatives.
As part of the public engagement, a short survey is open now through June 30, and can be accessed at: cvcommunityvoices.com/rohrpark
In addition to the online survey, the City hosted two recent outreach events: a public workshop on May 29 at the Chula Vista Woman’s Club and a pop-up event on May 31 at Rohr Park.
Draft alternatives for the Master Plan are expected to be released in summer 2025, followed by a final draft in winter 2025.
A PARK WITH DEEP COMMUNITY ROOTS
Rohr Park was built on the flood plain of the Sweetwater River and was donated through the generosity of Mr. Fred H. Rohr.
The park blends historic and recreational features, including the Rohr Manor building, picnic areas, gazebos, creative play spaces, and a model railroad track maintained by Chula Vista Live Steamers, Inc. Over the years, it has become a unique and beloved recreational space for residents and visitors alike.
