On Saturday, the CBS network presented an investigation into the disappearance of Chula Vista resident Maya Millete on its true-crime investigative program 48 Hours.
The program is located on the portal of that program. Testimonies from Millete's family members and co-workers at the San Diego Naval Base were gathered.
48 Hours correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti went with his crew to the Anza Borrego desert to produce the episode as volunteer search teams, many from Chula Vista, search for Maya's remains.
“It was inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time, as you can imagine; inspiring because so many volunteers have joined this search effort that was first launched as a grassroots effort by family and friends,” said Vigliotti.
The search for the young Chula Vista mother of two was “really the equivalent of looking for a needle in a haystack,” the reporter told CBS San Diego affiliate KFMB.
The program tells the story of Mrs. Millete since before her disappearance in January of last year.
He explains that Mrs. Millete's husband, Larry Millete, is being held as a suspect and charged with the death of Maya Millete.
“However, without a body, the prosecution really has their work cut out for them, which is why the search efforts that continue every weekend are so crucial,” the journalist said.
In one part of the program, the reporter presents a photograph of what appears to be a sorcery or witchcraft arrangement that Larry Millete would have made, with the photograph of the marriage surrounded by candles, bones, and splattered with blood.
The people who knew Mrs. Millete and gave their testimonials to the program, remembered that she loved her children, that she was very active and loved outdoor activities with her children, she liked music and sang with a beautiful voice.
