Officials from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation seek a 28-year-old inmate who walked out of the Male Community Reentry Program in Barrio Logan without authorization Thursday night.

Kajuan Walker was determined missing around 7:30 p.m. and law enforcement agencies were notified, and agents with the department's Office of Correctional Safety were sent to San Diego to search for him.

State prison officials said  Walker is Black, 6 feet tall, weighs 280 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and gray cut-off shorts.

According to a department official, Walker was sentenced to CDCR from San Diego County on June 27, 2018, to serve a nine-year sentence for second-degree robbery as a second-striker and possession of a controlled substance. He was moved to the program on March 24, and was scheduled to be released in May 2024.

The Male Community Reentry Program is a voluntary program for eligible incarcerated people who have two years or less of their prison sentence to serve. The program provides them the tools to reenter the community with job training, mental health support, substance abuse treatment, family reunification, and housing.

According to the department, since 1977, 99 percent of all offenders who have left an adult institution, camp, or community-based program without permission have been apprehended.

Anyone who sees Walker or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
