The Mexican regional music group Banda MS will be performing at the Viejas Arena on San Diego State University's Campus on Sunday, Nov. 20.
Banda MS, along with other groups such as La Banda Recordo, Banda Recoditos, Grupo Firme, has been one of the most popular banda groups over the past two decades in the regional genre.
La Banda MS' performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Viejas Arena. Tickets are available online.
Banda MS has made history in the industry, as it was confirmed last month that it will be the first regional Mexican group to collaborate with a video game. ‘Call of Duty Universe has featured Banda MS' latest hit, 141, in their newest video game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
Rodrigo Pérez, Senior Brand Manager, Latin America for Call of Duty, says the fact that this video game's campaign setting is based in Mexico, they thought it was a great idea to collaborate with this banda to mark an impact in the Mexican and Hispanic entertainment industry.
“With a portion of the single-player campaign set in Mexico, we knew that we had a unique opportunity in Mexico and the Hispanic market with Modern Warfare II,” said Rodrigo Pérez in a statement. “It has been exciting creating something special for the fans of Call of Duty and Banda MS that we have never done before.”
The founder of the popular music group expressed his excitement over this unique opportunity for the Mexican artists in this band.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Call of Duty,” said Sergio Lizárraga, founder of Banda MS. “We are proud to contribute to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II with something as engraved in Mexican culture as a corrido. We cannot wait for everyone to listen to our song.”
The game is out now worldwide.
