A vegetation fire charred nearly 100 acres southeast of Otay Reservoir, CalFire San Diego announced Monday.
The fire was first reported before noon Sunday at more than 10 acres of multiple small fires in brush 1.5 miles south of Otay Lakes Rd, southeast of Otay Reservoir, Cal Fire San Diego tweeted.
By 1:14 p.m Sunday, CalFire reported the fire reached 60 acres, and firefighters contained 5 percent with a moderate rate of spread. The agency noted difficult ground access and smokey conditions, though multiple agencies engaged in the firefight.
Nearly an hour later at 2:15 p.m., CalFire announced it stopped the fire at 100 acres with the commitment of dozens of air and ground resources.
On Monday, the agency said the fire is 50 percent contained. The fire charred 98 acres.
“Firefighters will continue to mop-up today, with full containment expected by tomorrow morning,” CalFire wrote in a tweet.
No injuries or structural damages were reported.
