The Chula Vista Community Foundation announced available grants for programs that address the needs of children and families within Chula Vista.

Nonprofit organizations with project proposals that support the needs of Chula Vista’s children and families may be awarded up to $50,000. The CVCF said it will give special consideration to proposals that address mental health, wellness, and physical well-being.

The deadline to submit a proposal is Nov. 23 no later than 5 p.m. Grant guidelines including directions on how to register and apply can be accessed at www.chulavistacommunityfoundation.org

“Through our current grant cycle, we want to work with local organizations closest to our youth and families to ensure that, as a community, we’re uplifting the mental health and physical well-being of our families and children,” said Lisa Johnson, CVCF board chair.

Programs that are eligible for grant funding include, but are not limited to:

  • Mental health,
  • Healthy lifestyles,
  • Health and well-being,
  • Child care/ after-school care,
  • Self-sufficiency,
  • Food insecurity,
  • Housing insecurity,
  • Domestic violence.

“CVCF is interested in how these projects and programs benefit Chula Vista, if they are new or innovative or expansive in some way, and have a positive effect to improve the lives of children and families in Chula Vista. These projects should be culturally humble and sensitive, practical and achievable within a 12-month time frame and have prospects for long-term sustainability,” the organization wrote in a news release.
