The San Diego County medical examiner released the report of the 64-year-old woman who was fatally struck on April 12 in the South Bay.
The coroner identified the deceased woman as Leticia Gutiérrez de Ordaz, a San Ysidro resident.
According to the report, the husband of Gutiérrez de Ordaz was driving a Ford Ranger pickup on Interstate 5 north of Nestor when a 24-year-old Chula Vista woman driving a Volkswagen Jetta quickly crossed lanes to try to take a freeway exit.
In the attempt to exit, the woman in the Volkswagen hit the pickup from behind, which propelled forward, tumbling on one of its sides.
Gutiérrez de Ordaz was ejected from the truck and suffered severe injuries.
Respinding paramedics transported Gutiérrez de Ordaz to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest, where she later died.
Gutiérrez de Ordaz's husband suffered major injuries and was transported to the same hospital. The driver of the Volkswagen was trapped inside her vehicle and suffered minor injuries.
