The City of Chula Vista will be hosting a community meeting to kick off the construction drawing phase of Patty Davis park.

The community meeting will be hosted on Jan.12 from 6 p.m. through 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room of Feaster Charter School, located at 670 Flower Street. Participants will assist the city in evaluating minor design refinements, as the city moves toward the master plan for the commemorative park.

The city of Chula Vista was awarded $1.9 million from the California State Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant last January as a part of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s “Outdoor for All” initiative. The initiative aims to enable all Californians, regardless of Zip code or income, to access parks and open space.

The .81-acre park is named after former City Councilmember Patty Davis, who passed away in 2019. It will be built on the City’s western side at D Street and Woodlawn Avenue.

Following input from local residents, the City Council, and the Parks & Recreation Commission, plans for two playground areas, a community garden, picnic areas with shelter, and a pathway/trail with art, with lighting and landscaping throughout the park.

Community members who would like to know more are asked to contact Mark Caro, the city's Landscape Architect at mcaro@chulavista.gov,
