On Saturday, October 2nd, the Institute for Public Strategies led by Jovita Arellano organized a community clean up and graffitti removal in West Chula Vista. The event attracted a group of volunteers and community leaders including Councilwoman Jill Galvez and Councilman John McCann.
IPS works to increase public health and safety by helping communities create sustainable change through Environmental Prevention system design, knowledge transfer, and project planning and implementation. Environmental Prevention is an approach that identifies and works to change the elements within the environment of a community that support or condone unhealthy or unsafe decisions. Cleaning up the streets and raising awareness was the focus this weekend.
