The University of San Diego ranked third among the nation's public colleges on Forbes 2022 America’s Top College list.

UC San Diego is ranked No. 17 out of 500 four-year private and public colleges in the country but maintains its spot as third among the nation’s public universities. The university was one of only five public colleges that secured a position among the top 25 spots on the list.

According to Forbes, the college ranking spotlights schools that offer an excellent education at a great price, graduate high-earners, and propel students to become successful entrepreneurs and influential leaders in their fields.

“I am pleased to see UC San Diego ranked as a top three public university in the nation,” said Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla in a news release. “Our commitment to academic excellence, world-class research, and interdisciplinary collaboration are evidenced by this latest recognition. By offering outstanding education, hands-on research opportunities, and access to supportive resources, students thrive and become the next generation of global leaders.”

UC San Diego was also selected in 2022 as an inaugural partner of #CaliforniansForAll College Corps, the statewide program invites low to moderate-income undergraduate students to apply, so they can engage in service projects while receiving financial compensation.

The Princeton Review placed the university in its “Top 50 Best Value Colleges (Public Colleges)” list earlier this spring.

The university recently broke ground on a 1,310-student village that will feature the tallest residential towers in the University of California system. The residential towers, named Pepper Canyon West, are scheduled for completion in the fall of 2024.
