Golden Boy Promotions adds a gem to their team of boxing stars in the come-up.

Earlier today, Thursday, Oscar De La Hoya's company confirmed the acquisition of Floyd "Kid Austin" Schofield to their Golden Boy team.

The 19-year-old boxing sensation signs a co-promotional contract with Golden Boy, which is a huge boost to the career of this young lightweight fighter out of the great state of Texas. Schofield will be co-promoted with Davies Entertainment as well.

Floyd currently has an 11-0 overall boxing record, along with nine knockouts on his exciting boxing resume.

The 19-year-old boxing rising star has spoken out on what this deal means to his professional career, expressing his excitement to get to work under the leadership of two all-time boxing greats such as Oscar himself and Bernard Hopkins, two boxing legends that Schofield has studied over the years.

“Being with Golden Boy Promotions is a dream come true,” said Floyd Schofield. “I get to learn from two legends – Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins – that I studied for years. My dad always told me this was all going to happen. To see it really happen, is beyond words. Now I have to do my part and win.”

Oscar De La Hoya, Golden Boy CEO and founder, says that their team is excited to complete the acquisition of a fighter with a great deal of dedication to his boxing craft at such a young age.

“The feeling of excitement to bring Floyd to Golden Boy has more than doubled after watching him ringside as he impressively debuted under our promotional banner this past month,” said Oscar De La Hoya. “With his humble charm, charisma, and dedication to become one of the top guys in the sport, we see a great deal of potential superstardom in the making.”

Schofield is expected to headline a Golden Boy main event on October 20th, streamed live through DAZN from Fantasy Springs Resort Casino.
