The living legend of American soccer, Landon Donovan, will be honored with his well-deserved induction to the United States Hall of Fame this Saturday, May 6th, at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
The breadth of Donovan's resume is something already known by all soccer fans, but it includes the top scorer in United States history with 57 goals (along with Clint Dempsey) and 58 assists that are 35 more than second place (Michael Bradley), and six championships in the Major League Soccer (four with LA Galaxy and two with San Jose Earthquakes) and four Gold Cup trophies with the USMNT.
A broad and fruitful trajectory.
On November 14th, 2019, Landon Donovan was named head coach of San Diego Loyal, a team he helped found and was vice president of soccer operations. Donovan surrounded himself with an experienced staff and incorporated former coach Paul Buckle and former USWNT soccer player Shannon MacMillan as principal advisors to his staff.
During his first season in charge, Donovan led San Diego to a 6-5-5 record. In the following two seasons, he led the team to the postseason. On December 2nd, 2022, Donovan was promoted to full-time Executive Vice President of Soccer Operations for SD Loyal with head coach Nate Miller being promoted to head coach for the 2023 season.
