The City of Chula Vista will create a second small business grant program, to be administered late spring or early summer.
In the meantime, it launched a 3-minute survey to understand how to support small businesses recover and thrive long-term after enduring the impacts of the pandemic. The targeted businesses for this program are micro-businesses, which have five employees or less.
The survey must be completed by March 4.
The survey will ask business owners to provide feedback on key elements of the grant program. The option to include an email address in order to be placed on an “interested list” for when the program is launched.
The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved the establishment of a new grant program on Feb.8. There is an allocated $3,875,000 in grant money to be given away to a total of 1,550 eligible micro-businesses.
Requirements for business
- Self-employed workers, independent contractors, sole proprietors, and corporations with no more than 5 employees in 2019
- No more than 5 employees currently
- Gross Revenue under $50,000
- In operation before December 1, 2019
- Microbusiness must be the primary source of revenue for the owner
- The demonstrable decline in revenue from Covid-19
- With San Diego County

- Applications are accepted through March 31, 2022.

- Received funding from the State of California for COVID-19 relief
- Had more than 5 employees in 2019 or currently

- Any Costs Relating to COVID-19 complications
- Working Capital, overhead, rent, utilities etc.
- Mortgage principal and interest payments, debt obligations (must be from prior to March 1, 2020)
- All employee expenses
