California Highway Patrol are on the hunt for a road rage suspect who reportedly chased down a driver to attack him before managing to escape before officials arrived.
Early on Wednesday at southbound state Round 125 in Spring Valley, the victim in the bizarre incident says a man driving a silver Volkswagen Jetta cut in front of him and proceeded to make hand gestures as well as throwing items at their vehicle. But the suspect didn't stop there, however, as he then began to chase the victim's car that was making its way through Chula Vista.
The victim, who has asked for his name not to be publicly revealed, reportedly made his way to Otay Lakes Road where he called for assistance, but it was too late by then. The suspect walked towards him with a baseball bat and swung at his head with the object, knocking him down and causing injuries to his head and cheek bone.
The suspect in this bizarre incident has not been revealed by officials, however, the attacker's license plate is known by authorities and is currently being investigated.
The CHP says that they're investigating the matter, as any incident involving road rage should be taken seriously considering how potentially dangerous it could get, such as this case.
“Any time there is a road rage incident, aggressive driving, we take those incidents very seriously,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt, “and we’re going to investigate it.”
The Highway Patrol Officer also suggests that drivers should avoid engaging in any potential road rage, because one doesn'y really know what is going through the mind of the road rager expressing inappropriate behavior behind the wheel.
“You don’t know what the other driver is going through,” Bettencourt said. “You don’t know if that’s somebody who just committed a crime and they’re trying to get away and that’s why they’re driving aggressively and they don’t care about you or anybody else that’s in your car.”
