Roscoe's House of Chicken ‘N Waffles is finally coming to San Diego by the end of 2022.

The famous restaurant will be located just a few blocks away from beautiful Petco Park and the historic Chicano Park, providing a great location for lunch and dining for baseball fans after a Padres game. The restaurant will be located at 1678 National Ave.

The project has been coming along since 2016, but the construction has gone through several phases of delays throughout the process.

Diane Vara, the project's creative director, says she hopes this restaurant can be officially open by the fall of this year, potentially late in the summer. Vera says the framing process for the location is under way.

"I'd love to have it open before fall, like a late summer," said Diane Vara, Creative Director for Roscoe's House of Chicken ‘N Waffles. "We've got the framing done and we're looking forward to beginning the entire framing process for that location," Vara said.

This restaurant opening will be the first chain expansion built south of the Anaheim area. However, the creative director told NBC7 that they are not done expanding even after San Diego's project, as they continue to consider opening a restaurant location somewhere in Northern California.

Roscoe's Chicken 'N Waffles owner Heb Hudson was who selected Barrio Logan for this project, after touring around various zones of San Diego County, including the highly popular North Park.

"He's [Herb] like, 'This is going to be the place for it.' And it's right outside of downtown. So we felt it would be a great location," said Diane Vara.

This new location will include up to 4,500 square feet along with its parking area and patio seating section. The restaurant will have a neon colored "Roscoe's" sign to welcome all visitors.
