Authorities search for a mother suspected of kidnapping her daughter to Mexico from school in Spring Valley and seek the public’s help in locating her whereabouts.
According to investigators of the San Diego Sheriff’s department, Wendy Gutierrez, 45, is suspected of picking up her 6-year-old biological daughter, Jolyn, after school on Feb. 22.
The mother does not have legal custody of her daughter, according to the Sheriff's Department. Kempton Elementry school employees saw Gutierrez and Jolyn leave at around 1:15 p.m.
Authorities say Gutierrez was last seen at around 3 p.m. that afternoon at a Jack in the Box on Plaza Boulevard near Harbison Avenue in National City.
The Sheriff’s Department said a witness reported spotting an older woman and a young girl matching their description crossing into Tijuana on foot.
The Sheriff’s Department describes Jolyn is 3 feet tall with long brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black zip-up hooded sweatshirt and black boots.
Wendy is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weighing about 120 pounds. She was last seen wearing gray and black camouflage cargo pants, a white zip-up sweatshirt, and carrying an umbrella.
