The average price of gas has increased by more than 2 cents in the past three days, setting another record high average of $4.84 for a gallon of self-serve gasoline in San Diego County.
The average price of gas has set records 10 of the previous 12 days, and risen 24 of the last 28 days.
According to the AAA and Oil Price Information Service, the price of gas has increased 21.8 cents, including 2.1 cents on Saturday and 2.9 cents on Friday. This is the largest increase since Oct.2, 2019.
The average price is 10.1 cents more than one week ago, 22.3 cents higher than one month ago, and $1.134 greater than one year ago.
According to Gas Buddy, there are some locations in Chula Vista with gas prices relatively lower than the county-wide average.
Costco cardholders may find gas at $4.39 a gallon for regular self-serve gasoline on 895 E H St, and 1144 Broadway.
San Diego Gasoline on 100 Bonita Rd and 898 Broadway prices its regular self-serve gasoline at $4.39.
Residents may also find low prices at Broadway Gas & Wash at 498 Broadway for $4.45 a gallon, and The Tote on 4430 Main St. at $4.48 per gallon.
According to Doug Shupe, spokesperson for the Automobile Club of Southern California, drivers should “implement fuel efficiency tips into their daily routines”. Those tips include:
- Keeping vehicles well-maintained such as properly inflated tires, removing excess weight from vehicles that is not needed for trips;
- Avoiding jackrabbit starts and not speeding;
- Parking in the shade or using a window sunscreen to lessen heat build up in your vehicle;
- Combining errands into fewer trips per day, and;
- Chopping around for the cheapest gas by looking for less expensive gas stations that aren’t too far out of your way.
