Joaquín Jackson, who has trained with Chula Vista FC for the past year under coaches Francisco Ramírez, Eden Esquerre, and most recently, Fernando Mares, was one of the selected players. Meanwhile, Anthony Valadez, who has also worked with coaches Manel de Ramon, Esquerre, and Mares over the past year, earned the same honor.

Selected from 1,200 Players

“In late May and early June, we partnered with members of the Mexican National Team who were hosting camps in the U.S. to scout Mexico-American talent,” explained Academy Director José Héctor Díaz. “We hosted the San Diego camp, and anyone could sign up.”

Jackson and Valadez shined among approximately 1,200 participants and were among six players invited to Toluca to compete in the Men’s Supercup, alongside selections from California, Texas, and Mexico.

“I couldn’t be prouder of these players and the entire club,” said Díaz. “It’s also a reflection of the dedication of our coaches and administrative team.”

Following their impressive showing in Toluca, Jackson and Valadez were called to train with Mexico’s U-16 squad at the High-Performance Center (CAR) in Mexico City from September 15 to 19, further demonstrating their skill and growth under the guidance of Chula Vista FC’s coaching staff.

Chula Vista FC, part of MLS Next, is also a member of the DV7 Academy, an international youth soccer network led by World Cup winner and Spain’s all-time top scorer, David Villa.
