Two Chula Vista High Schools will participate as finalists in a county-wide poetry competition on Feb. 8, hosted by the City of San Diego in partnership with the National Poetry Foundation.
Bayfront Charter High School and Eastlake High School will participate in a national poetry recitation competition, Poetry Out Loud on Feb.8 in a Livestream event beginning at 6:30 p.m. The winner will advance to the State Finals in Sacramento.
That winner will move on to compete the National Title in Washington, D.C. Cash prizes are available at the Regional, State and National levels.
This comes as the city of San Diego partnered with the National Poetry Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the California Arts Council, and Write Out Loud, which will host the regional national poetry recitation competition.
Finalists from the following San Diego High Schools will be participating in the regional competition also include Canyon Crest Academy, San Diego, Patrick Henry High School, San Diego, Valley Center High School.
Brandon Cesmat, Gina Jackson, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Kerry Meads, and Jim Moreno will be judges for the event.
