In a collective effort to enhance community safety and prevent gun violence, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, in collaboration with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, Chula Vista Police Department, San Diego Police Department, Coronado Police Department, Harbor Police Department, and National City Police Department, is organizing a crucial Gun Safety Event.

Participants can turn in their unwanted guns and, in return, receive a gift card valued at $100 for handguns, rifles, and shotguns or $200 for assault weapons and ghost guns. The event ensures anonymity, with no questions asked.

To participate, firearms must be in working order and unloaded. Attendees will be required to place their unloaded firearms in the trunk of their vehicles. Deputies and officers will be on-site to provide clear instructions, ensuring a smooth and secure process.

The Gun Safety Event goes beyond simply collecting unwanted guns; it also addresses the need for responsible firearm ownership and storage practices. As part of this comprehensive approach to gun safety, the event offers FREE gun cable locks and security boxes to those looking to secure firearms kept in their homes. These will be provided while supplies last.

This Gun Safety Event presents an opportunity for San Diego County residents to actively contribute to a safer community. Whether you possess an unwanted firearm or seek to enhance the security of firearms in your home.
