The San Diego Humane Society is waiving fees for all adult pets for the New Year, made possible by a $3,000 donation from San Diego resident Patrick Woo-Sam.

In their promotion “New Year, New Love”, adoption fees for all adult pets ages 7 months and older will be completely waived on Jan.7-8 at all San Diego Humane Society locations.

Shelter officials say the new 2023 year has begun already at 131% over capacity for dogs “after an unprecedented 2022 with incoming stray animals who were never reclaimed by their owners.”

Nearly half of all animals up for adoption at the San Diego Humane Society are dogs looking for homes.

“We’re hoping the animals in our care will get a fresh start in the new year,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, President, and CEO of the San Diego Humane Society. “Every single one of them is an individual who deserves love and a proper home of their own.”

San Diego Humane Society is open for walk-in adoptions Tuesday –Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at its campuses in Escondido, El Cajon, Oceanside and San Diego. To view animals currently available for adoption, visit sdhumane.org/adopt.
