The man who attempted to rob a Bank of America in National City surrendered himself to the Escondido Police Department on Tuesday, the FBI in San Diego announced.

The attempted bank robbery took place on Jan.18 at around 4:30 p.m. at the Bank of America brand at 235 East Eighth Street in National City. According to the FBI in San Diego, the man entered the bank and gave a teller a note demanding money. 

According to officials, once the teller did not give the suspect any money, he fled on foot. 

The FBI San Diego sent out a bulletin with a picture of the suspect during the attempted robbery. 

The man’s identity is not yet released.
