The Labor Bureau Statistics report shows that the unemployment rate in San Diego County is 3.5%, which includes young adults who are not currently employed.
Through a release, Goodwill informed us about these statistics to introduce their summer program.
Goodwill San Diego, in collaboration with Bank of America, has launched the Summer Youth Program 2023 to enhance the work and soft skills of young individuals ages 16 to 25. Despite being advertised as a summer program, it runs throughout the year, as mentioned on their website https://sdgoodwill.org/aboutus/events-calendar/.
Students of this program will be provided with a Goodwill Career Advisor and will have the opportunity to enroll in Goodwill’s Job Readiness Program.
The career advisor will teach students how to develop a custom employment plan, create a résumé, prepare for interviews, and obtain employment. The job readiness program will equip youths with exceptional customer service, proper workplace communication, conflict resolution, and financial literacy workshops.
Moreover, Bank of America offers Better Money Habits workshops to students to teach them budgeting, saving, and money management skills.
To participate, get in touch with a Career Advisor. They can help you enroll by visiting sdgoodwill.org or any of the five San Diego County Goodwill Community Employment Centers. You can make appointments in person or online in both English and Spanish.
Upon finishing the workshops, students will receive a certificate of completion. It is highly recommended that they consider applying for part-time positions at Goodwill or any other available job opportunities.
Learning these essential skills is valuable for everyone, even adults. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to improve your future!
