Common Theory Public House is expanding to the south bay with its newest Otay Ranch location after experiencing success in the Convow District of San Diego.

Common Theory is locally known for offering a diverse draft beer menu with an Asian gastropub influence, and it has arrived in Chula Vista, where Co-founders Joon Lee and Cris Liang are originally from.

This new Common Theory Public House will be located at 1980 Optima Street in the Millenia community, adjacent to the local Otay Ranch Town Center.

The 4,500-square-foot restaurant’s grand opening will be on Tuesday, March 19. The ribbon-cutting celebration will take place at 11:00 a.m., accompanied by Chula Vista Mayor John McCann. They will also offer 99-cent beers to the first 99 (21+) adult guests at this grand opening.

Co-founder Joon Lee says they are happy to bring their restaurant to their hometown of Chula Vista, where Lee and Liang are from.

“Our objective from the beginning was to build a warm, friendly space where everyone is welcome – a place where there’s always something amazing available to eat and drink to suit anyone,” Lee said. “We finally have brought our communal style back to our hometown for even more to enjoy.”

Cris Liang says this restaurant will welcome individuals of all heritages and offer a comforting atmosphere in Chula Vista.

“No matter your heritage, we all have a common desire for good food, good drinks, and to be surrounded by good people,” Liang said. “Our new Common is a comforting venue that we’re confident all will enjoy.”
