CHULA VISTA — The Port of San Diego is inviting the public to a vibrant and family-friendly celebration this Saturday, June 14, with “A Day at the Park,” a free multicultural festival taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bayfront Park in Chula Vista.
Part of the Port’s “Port Experiences Series,” the event aims to activate underutilized waterfront spaces through community-centered programming. Organizers have lined up a full day of entertainment, cultural performances, food vendors, and interactive activities for children of all ages.
The entertainment schedule begins at 11 a.m. with a performance by the Southwest Island Steel Drum Band, followed by a welcome ceremony at noon. Dance and cultural presentations throughout the afternoon will include Grupo Folklorico DAMza, Dance Force & MPulse, Imahen Taotao Tano, and the San Diego Beamers Band. A family-friendly Zumba session featuring Disney princesses and Bluey is also planned.
Food options will range from tacos and sugarcane drinks to Vietnamese steamed buns, with vendors such as Big Boyz Tacos, Tiger Sticks, Coastal Cane, and TP Banh Bao serving up local flavors.
For children, the “Kids Zone” will offer jewelry making, inflatable play zones, face painting with princesses, arts and crafts with Home Depot, and even basic drill demonstrations by the Miramar Young Marines. Mini golf and bubble play will also be available, with support from the South Bay YMCA.
Free on-site parking will be offered, along with continuous shuttle service from the Chula Vista Civic Center Library branch at 365 F St. between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The event is part of the Port’s Expanded Access Events initiative under its Tidelands Activation Programs (TAP), which seeks to foster stronger community connections to the San Diego Bay through inclusive and accessible events.
Bayfront Park is located at 980 Marina Way in Chula Vista.
