The Movies in the Moonlight! series organized by the City of Chula Vista is coming to an end with two free, family-oriented screenings in community parks. Residents are invited to enjoy evenings under the stars, with recreational activities beginning at 5 p.m. and movies starting at dusk.
On Thursday, September 26, Rohr Park will host the animated film Dog Man, an adaptation of the popular children’s comic created by Dav Pilkey. The story follows a police dog with the body of a man and the head of a dog who, through comedic adventures, must face eccentric villains and solve problems with creativity, delivering messages about friendship, imagination, and the importance of staying true to oneself.
The series will conclude on Thursday, October 24, at Escaya Park with Hotel Transylvania, directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. The film tells the story of Count Dracula, owner of an exclusive hotel for monsters. His carefully planned routine is disrupted when a young human discovers the place and falls in love with his daughter Mavis, setting off a comedy full of twists, action, and humor for the entire family.
Organizers emphasized that the screenings offer an opportunity to bring the community together in public spaces, promote family bonding, and provide accessible recreational alternatives. “We want families to experience the magic of outdoor cinema, to feel connected to their community, and to enjoy safe and fun nights together,” said representatives from the city’s cultural program.
