On Monday, the SDSU Aztecs didn't partake in their scheduled basketball game against the Wyoming Cowboys due to COVID-19 issues within Wyoming's locker-room.

On Tuesday, Aztecs men's basketball program announced that their game this weekend against New Mexico was also being postponed due to a number of Aztec players testing positive to COVID-19.

And now on Friday, SDSU confirmed that it will be pulling out of its January 18 home game against University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

This comes after multiple people connected to the program said that additional Aztec players have tested positive and have now started to quarantine.

Aztecs head coach Brian Dutcher says that this COVID pause on their season isn't discouraging him in believing that they are bound to become a great basketball team.

“Like I’ve said from the start of the year: I know we’re going to be good,” said coach Dutcher on going two weeks now without basketball games. “When we’re going to be good, I don’t know. This is just another factor of when we’re going to hit stride. But if we can get together for a long enough period of time, I think we have a chance to be a very good team.” he added.

After the conference game against Boise State that is scheduled for January 22, SDSU is still scheduled to play 10 games in six weeks remaining in this season.

And now at this pace, SDSU is scheduled to squeeze in even more games into such a tight window of a schedule before the Mountain West Conference goes underway.
